Two factory workers were pulled to safety on Saturday after becoming trapped inside a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos.
The incident, which occurred around 10 a.m., was confirmed by Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
According to preliminary findings, the ordeal began when one of the workers accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while performing repair work. A second worker, attempting to rescue his colleague, also became trapped.
Swift intervention by LASEMA, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire Service, led to the successful rescue of both men.
“Both victims were in critical condition and received first aid, including CPR, before being rushed to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS),” Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement.
He added that emergency responders had secured the area and were conducting a comprehensive assessment to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The rescued men, whose identities were not disclosed, remain under medical supervision as they recover from the traumatic experience.
