“We Need Water,” Obasa’s Supporters Chant From Inside Black Maria (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni
In a dramatic scenario, following the impeachment of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, a group of his supporters created a spectacle as they were rounded up and transported in a police van, popularly known as Black Maria.
The video of the incident, which surfaced online, has since gone viral, sparking reactions across social media platforms about the behaviour of Obasa’s supporters.
The 20 individuals who are allegedly to be Obasa Supporters, identified themselves as APC youths from Agege, fervently declared their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and denied being area boys. Clad in political loyalty, they proclaimed, “We are 20 here, all from Agege. We are not area boys, we are APC youths. Just give us water. We need water.”
As their pleas for water went unanswered, the group launched into a rendition of the popular APC campaign anthem, “On Your Mandate,” a song famously associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The scene quickly drew laughter and widespread commentary from netizens, many of whom found the display both humorous and emblematic of Nigerian political drama.
