Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, has alleged that Naira Marley, his group, and her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, have threatened her and are contesting the late singer’s assets.
Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has raised concerns for her safety and that of her one-year-old son, Liam.
She revealed in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that she has been receiving constant death threats.
According to Omowunmi, she has faced attacks from her late husband’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, and his associates. She also accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of trying to take control of Mohbad’s properties, claiming he is determined to make her life difficult.
Expressing her fears, she stated, “We no longer feel safe. I literally get death threats almost every day in my DMs. It has really gotten to a point where it’s either I speak up or I die in silence.”
She further alleged, “I have been attacked by Naira Marley and his cohorts. My father-in-law wants to be in control of Mohbad’s properties, or he will go all out to destroy my life. My father-in-law was the one who officiated my marriage to my late husband. He was the happiest, and now he is calling our son a bastard. He said Liam has bow legs and that they don’t have such in their family. He said Liam looks older than him, and he is almost 60. He even went as far as claiming that my husband wanted to throw my baby into the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Mohbad tragically passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances after parting ways with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music. His exit was reportedly due to disputes over the label’s failure to honor their contract agreement.
Following his death, suspicions arose about the involvement of Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, particularly after a viral video showed them assaulting Mohbad before his passing.
Both men were arrested and arraigned on October 6, 2023, in connection with the case but later secured bail after pleading not guilty.
