MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, is set to implement another round of subscription price increases, with the cost of its Compact bouquet rising from ₦15,700 to ₦19,000.

The move to increase subscription prices on the DSTV and GOtv platforms is attributed to the devaluation of the naira and escalating energy costs, challenges that have also impacted businesses in telecommunications, transportation, and consumer goods.

Industry sources indicate that the subscription price adjustment will take effect soon, nearly a year after the last review.

Other DStv packages will also see adjustments. The Family bouquet will increase from ₦9,300 to ₦11,000, while the Access package will rise from ₦5,100 to ₦6,000. Premium and Compact+ subscribers are also expected to face new rates, though the exact figures have yet to be confirmed.

GOtv users will not be spared from the changes, as GOtv Value subscribers will now pay ₦3,900 instead of ₦3,600, while GOtv Plus customers will see their subscription fees increase from ₦4,850 to ₦5,800.

Since 2023, Nigeria’s economic landscape has been shaped by inflation, currency devaluation, and policy changes such as the removal of fuel subsidies and electricity tariff hikes. Inflation surged to 34.8% in December 2024, forcing companies across various industries to adjust their pricing structures to stay afloat.

With currency fluctuations and rising operational costs, businesses are grappling with significant financial strain, making price hikes an unavoidable measure for survival.
