PSG Vs Aston Villa: Key Predictions And Lineups For Quarter-Final
By Benjamin Abioye

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will host Aston Villa for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. The match will take place at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening.
Aston Villa, who are making an impressive return to Europe’s top competition, have won their last seven matches in all competitions. They enter this game in strong form, including a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest last weekend. However, they face a significant challenge against PSG, who recently secured the Ligue 1 title with six games to spare and are still unbeaten this season.
PSG has been in exceptional form, with their performance extending to the European stage as well. They knocked out Premier League leaders Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League. Villa will be hoping to pull off an upset, but PSG’s strength, especially with their solid squad, is likely to pose a big test.
The match is set to kick off at 20:00 BST (15:00 ET, 12:00 PT) and will be officiated by Maurizio Mariani from Italy. This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between PSG and Aston Villa.
PSG will be missing key players for this match. Captain Marquinhos is suspended after accumulating too many yellow cards, and Lee Kang-in is sidelined with an ankle injury. Despite these absences, PSG still has a full-strength squad with notable players like Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, and Ousmane Dembele, who are expected to start.
Aston Villa, led by manager Unai Emery, have also been performing well, with their most recent matches showing their strength. However, they too have a few fitness concerns, including Ross Barkley and Leon Bailey, though both are nearing recovery. Marco Asensio, who is on loan from PSG, will also be available to face his parent club.
In terms of predicted lineups, PSG is likely to start with Donnarumma in goal, backed by Hakimi, Beraldo, Pacho, and Mendes in defense. In midfield, Neves, Vitinha, and Ruiz will play, while the attacking trio will be Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, and Barcola, with Lewandowski in front. Aston Villa is expected to line up with Martinez in goal, a defense of Cash, Konsa, Torres, and Digne, with Kamara and Tielemans in midfield. Rogers, McGinn, and Rashford will support Watkins in attack.
PSG’s recent form, including 25 wins in their last 27 matches across all competitions, makes them favorites for the tie. Villa’s strong unbeaten run is impressive, but they face a massive challenge at the Parc des Princes. PSG’s offensive power and midfield talent should lead them to a victory in this first leg.
Prediction: PSG 2-0 Aston Villa
