Nigeria recorded 389 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday in 22 states and the FCT bringing the total number of infections in the country to 12,233.

The spread of new cases, however, became more diversified with Lagos the hotbed of the disease recording its lowest proportion of new cases. There were only 66 new cases of the disease recorded in Lagos, a mere 17% of the total number of new cases.

The state had accounted for more than half of the new cases recorded in the country for most of the records produced since the outbreak of the disease.

On the contrary, Delta State which had mobilized a rapid response to the disease since the outbreak was in despair on Saturday after the state produced its highest number of new infections with 32 cases.

Perhaps reflective of inter-state transmission, neighbouring Anambra State also recorded its highest number of new infections with 17 new cases of the disease. That was a 142% jump on the cases it had until Friday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in its report of the situation in the country reported thus:

Only one state, Cross River State is yet to report a case of the disease.
