The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, CON, SAN has admonished corps members to put patriotism and selfless service to the nation ahead of other considerations.

The Executive Governor made the charge in his address during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Akeredolu who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs. Foluke Tunde-Daramola said that the orientation course is meant to equip the corps members to have a better understanding of the operations of the Scheme.

According to the Governor, the three-week induction course is to toughen and prepare them physically and mentally to meet the challenges ahead, especially in their newfound culture and environment.

“Gentlemen corps members, the three weeks orientation course programme that you actively participated in is designed for all of you to contribute meaningfully to the overall development of this great country as you go to your various places of primary assignment”.

He charged them to contribute to the socio-economic and political development of Ondo, the Sunshine State as well as encouraging them to put in their best and contribute productively in whatever sector of the economy they might be posted.

“Your predecessors made a sacrifice that has endeared the Scheme in the hearts of all and sundry. I hope you will not disappoint the citizens and residents of this country who have implicit trust in your capabilities to serve the nation relentlessly”.

He enjoined them to impact positively on their host communities and transfer the knowledge acquired during the skill acquisition training to better their lots and stem the tide of youth unemployment in society.

The Executive Governor declared that the Sunshine State will continually ensure that the security and welfare of corps members deployed to the State receive priority attention.

While urging them to flee from all negative acts that could tarnish the image their predecessors toiled to build over the years, he assured them that his administration would see to their excellent hospitality by the government and the good people of Ondo State.

The State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani presented letter of commendation to Head, Registration and Documentation on Camp, Mrs. Bosede Daramola and the Camp Commandant, Major BB Mshelia for distinguishing themselves as Best NYSC and non-NYSC camp officials.

Over 1700 corps members reported for service in Ondo state for the 2023 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) service year.
