Police Hunt Native Doctor Behind Boy’s Murder
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man, Destiny Lawrence, for allegedly murdering an eight-year-old boy, Progress Ifeanyi, in Owa-Alero community. The suspect is currently in police custody.
The police have also launched a search for a native doctor, identified only as Jonah, who reportedly hired the suspect to bring the boy to him in exchange for ₦30,000.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the incident was reported on November 23, 2024. Edafe stated, “A resident of Owa-Alero reported that his 8-year-old son, Progress Ifeanyi, was missing. He said a customer named Destiny Lawrence, who often patronized their shop, was last seen with the boy. When confronted, Lawrence denied knowing the boy’s whereabouts.”
Later that day, the boy’s body was discovered in an unfinished building, with some of his body parts missing. Edafe explained, “The suspect, Destiny Lawrence, was arrested and, during interrogation, confessed that a native doctor from Otolokpo community, known as Jonah, had asked him to find a young boy for ₦30,000. Lawrence lured the boy to the native doctor, who then took him to an uncompleted building and killed him by slitting his throat.”
Edafe confirmed that the suspect is in custody while efforts to apprehend the fleeing native doctor are ongoing.
