Gov Nwifuru Will Complete Eight Years – Umahi
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has assured his unwavering support for Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, promising to help him complete two full terms in office.
Umahi made this pledge during a Christmas visit by members of the Izzi National Youths Forum to his hometown in Uburu, Ohaoazara Local Government Area. He expressed surprise at their visit and firmly stated that Nwifuru would complete his eight years as governor, just as past governors of the state had done.
“God forbid that the Izzi people stand against me tomorrow, but my covenant with God and Nwifuru is to ensure he completes uninterrupted eight years in office,” Umahi said. He added, “Nothing will stop this. I fought principalities and powers alone and won to make him governor. Do you think I cannot do it now, with someone by my side?”
Umahi praised Nwifuru’s leadership, emphasizing his humility and expressing his continued commitment. “Nwifuru is humble, and until the end of his eight years, I am not leaving him,” he stated.
He also commended the Izzi National Youths Forum for their leadership and for taking time to visit him during the festive season. “It is gratifying that you came to celebrate with me, even when you could have been at home celebrating with your son, the governor,” Umahi remarked.
The President of the Izzi National Youths Forum, Andrew Elom, explained that the visit was to appreciate Umahi for keeping his promise of ensuring that Governor Nwifuru, an Izzi became his successor. He urged Umahi to continue guiding Governor Nwifuru, describing the governor as a project that Umahi started and must see through.
“This is a project you initiated and began, and the governor needs all the encouragement you can provide,” Elom said. He also praised Umahi’s work as a minister, noting that his contributions had positively impacted Ebonyi State and Nigeria as a whole.
