Mohbad’s Mother, Actor Yomi Fabiyi Clash
By Benjamin Abioye
The mother of the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa, known as Mohbad, Abosede Aloba, has had a public disagreement with actor Yomi Fabiyi over her son’s death.
This altercation took place during a World Press Conference on Wednesday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos. Fabiyi, who has been vocal about seeking justice for Mohbad, accused Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba, of reaching out to him on Instagram. Fabiyi claimed that Adura had knowledge of the true cause of Mohbad’s death.
However, Abosede Aloba strongly denied these claims. She insisted that Adura could not possibly know the reasons behind her son’s death and urged him to stop making such statements. The grieving mother was visibly upset during the exchange, as she turned her frustration towards Fabiyi. She made it clear that she would not allow him to cause further pain by implicating her surviving son.
With intense emotion, Aloba spoke of her sorrow over losing Mohbad, saying that if her son had been alive, she wouldn’t have been present at the event where the accusations were made. She stated, “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son.” She added, “I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura, too.”
Yomi Fabiyi, in his response to Mohbad’s mother clarified that his concern was not about who sent the message but the message. He stated that he wasn’t convinced that it wasn’t Adura who had contacted him with the information about his brother’s death.
