Davido shares opinion on Trump and Biden debate

Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly retracted his criticism of Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, following his earlier outburst over rising political violence in the state.

Davido, who had accused the police commissioner of failing to curb the unrest, admitted in a new statement that his emotions had clouded his judgment after reports of bloodshed in Osun.

In a press release titled “My Take on Osun CP, NPF, and Forthcoming LG Elections,” Davido acknowledged that he had unfairly placed sole blame on the Commissioner of Police and other security heads without fully understanding the complexities of the situation.

“I now see that the issue goes beyond just the Commissioner of Police or other security chiefs. The needless killings today angered me so deeply that I felt they should have been prevented. However, I now realize that the security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, put in their best efforts and deserve commendation,” the singer stated.

Davido went on to praise CP Mohammed Umar Abba and his team for their dedication, admitting that he was unaware of the sleepless nights they had been enduring to maintain peace in the state.

“In memory of the innocent lives lost, emotions overwhelmed me and many around me. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been working tirelessly alongside other commanders,” he added.

With the Osun local government elections set for Saturday, February 22, 2025, Davido urged security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure a peaceful process, describing a violence-free election as a “crowning glory” for both politicians and law enforcement.

He concluded by expressing his best wishes to CP Mohammed Umar Abba and other security chiefs as they work to stabilize the situation in Osun State.
