'God Bless DJ Switch', Nigerians Hail Lekki Tollgate 'Hero'

Following the release of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry’s report on the Lekki Tollgate massacre, which confirmed the murder of innocent protesters on October 20, 2020, some social media users have taken to Twitter to hail DJ Switch who live-streamed the event on Instagram.

It will be recalled that DJ Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Catherine Udeh was live at the Lekki Tollgate when soldiers opened fire on unarmed and innocent protesters. DJ Switch took to Instagram to show the shocking and appalling turn of events in real-time.

Despite the evidence of the massacre presented by DJ Switch, the Nigerian government dismissed the occurrence of a massacre. Labeling the live feed from her Instagram as doctored, while Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, referred to her as a “purveyor of fake news”.

As a fallout of the events of October 20, 2020, it was reported that the 29-year old had to flee Nigeria to avoid persecution and intimidation. Her current location remains unknown.

Following the release of the report, DJ Switch tweeted, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public… by you! The truth needs no defense! #EndSARS “

Following DJ Switch’s vindication by the Panel’s report, users took to Twitter to hail her for her bravery, selflessness in face of intimidation and tyranny. Here are some reactions as gathered by GWG
