Reactions Over Lawyer’s ‘Misuse’ Of EndSARS Fund

Strong support has come the way of one of the promoters of the #EndSARS protest, Modupe Odele after insinuations of financial impropriety following the truncation of her scheduled holiday to the Maldives by the Nigeria Immigration Service.

GWG recalls that during the #EndSARS protest, one of the leading  NGOs, Feminist Coalition, had announced that it received N31 million in four days through crowd funding. The money was targeted at supporting protesters.

The protest has since ended and a few Nigerians had gone to twitter asking whether the “organisers” of the protest benefited financially to the extent of one of the organisers affording a holiday to the Maldives.

One of the persons who thought so was social media user, Samuel Omogor, who took to his Twitter account wondering why Modupe Odele who is in charge of legal services should be going on a trip to the Maldives when she is needed in Nigeria to play her role for the protesters that may be needing her services.

However, his assertion was quickly rebuffed by several others on twitter who took him to cleaners with their knowledge that Ms. Odele not only orgnaised free legal services but had been a successful lawyer before recently returning to Nigeria.

The accusation was dismissed with ignominy by many of the people with knowledge of her record in civil activism.

Samuel Omogor@SamuelOmogor  had alleged: “During the End SARS protests @Mochievouswas in charge of Legal services and she was everywhere, and with the kind of money we now know was involved in the protests, it will be very safe to say she made a lot of money from the exercise. Now, after the Lekki toll gate incident.
“And the crisis that followed with allegations of ‘MASSACRE’ of 78, 15, 12 protesters or whatever, a Judicial Panel of enquiry was set up. Even somebody born without brains should know that even if everybody else travels the Lawyer in charge of Legal Services on the side of the protesters must not. She must be on ground to supervise for the Protesters. But what did we get? Boom! She got herself an Emirates Airlines BUSINESS CLASS ticket to MALDIVES for holidays. Gosh… for those of you that don’t know, Maldives is a beautiful Island nation in
the Indian Ocean. Even without finishing the job she started. Yet some of you dumb ‘YOOTS’ still don’t realise you were been used by the so called ‘YEYEBRITIES’ and ‘INFLUENZAS’? Some of you have no means of livelihoods, but got serious injuries from the protests, which you might look for money to treat yourselves but those who pushed and urged you on are going to spend holidays in some of the beautiful places on earth. Go check how much a business class ticket to Maldives cost, then check for prices of hotels and come tell me.. WETIN YOU GAIN. “
