U-20 World Cup: Critics Pounce On Peter Obi Over Misleading Comment On Falconets
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has received backlash from his critics over his post that alluded to the Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, Falconets crashing out at the semi-final of the World tournament instead of the quarter final.
GWG reports that, pictures capturing moments the Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, Falconets, were left stranded at the airport in Istanbul, Turkey, after crashing out of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica had emerged on social media.

Peter Obi via his Twitter on Wednesday, had commended Nigeria’s Falconets for their efforts after they lost to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals in the group stage of the ongoing Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
He wrote, ”Our dear Super Falconets put up a decent game and fought gallantly at the ongoing Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, until they were knocked out at the Semi-Finals stage, by the Netherlands. We salute the players,
“The coaching crew and the technical team for their efforts and deep sacrifices. I hope that with our planned investment in sports, the team will be more formidable to do better in the future.”
However, Obi’s statement has generated criticism as critics who had been trying to nail him fired the former governor of Anambra State for misinformation regarding the stage at which the Falconets crashed out of the tournament.

They called him out for not verifying before putting up the statement on the microblogging platform.
