BREAKING: Tinubu Kicks Off Student Loan Scheme

After a small change to the Student Loan Scheme, the Federal Government on Wednesday officially kick-started the programme.

President Bola Tinubu is currently inaugurating a committee to manage the scheme at the State House, Abuja.

To start the program, the President recently approved ₦35 billion to be given out based on specific criteria by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), aiming to help 70,000 initial applicants.

Jim Ovia, appointed by Tinubu to lead the NELFund Board, approved the loan disbursements during its first meeting in Abuja last month.

During the ongoing inauguration at the Villa, Tinubu is expected to outline the guidelines for the implementation team to ensure the scheme stays on track.
