A small plane crashed into a commercial building near Fullerton Municipal Airport, California, on Thursday, leaving two people dead and 18 others injured.

The plane crash occurred in the early afternoon and caused extensive damage to the building near the California airport. Witnesses saw smoke pouring out and a large hole in the roof.

The Fullerton Police Department confirmed the fatalities, stating, “There are two confirmed fatalities.” Among the injured, ten people were taken to the hospital, while eight received treatment at the scene. Authorities are still trying to determine whether the victims were on the plane or inside the building at the time of the crash. “We’re still investigating whether the victims were passengers or individuals inside the structure,” a police officer told KTLA.

Jerome Cruz, a worker in the building, described the moment of impact. “All we hear is like a loud noise, boom, and that’s it. Then we started running out,” he told CBS News.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as a single-engine Van’s RV-10, a small, four-seater plane. The cause of the crash is not yet known, and the FAA has started an investigation.

This plane crash follows a similar aviation accident in November near Fullerton Airport, California which left two people injured.
