Macaroni cautions Toyin Abraham

In a poignant tribute to the individuals allegedly killed during the 2020 #EndSars protest at the Lekki Toll Gate, popular Nigerian skit maker, Mr. Macaroni, has announced an upcoming peaceful walk on the solemn anniversary.

Taking to his social media platform, Mr. Macaroni informed his followers about the event dedicated to honoring those purportedly lost during the tragic incident.

The 2020 #EndSars protests, which swept across various parts of Nigeria, including Lagos, saw a significant gathering of people at the Lekki Toll Gate, where protesters staged a peaceful demonstration by blocking the passage of pedestrians and road users for several hours. This action, however, was met with disapproval from the authorities.

During the protest, there were claims that security personnel were deployed to the Lekki Toll Gate, and shots were allegedly fired at the peaceful protesters, resulting in tragic loss of lives. Although the government has not publicly confirmed these claims, many protesters and individuals continue to assert that lives were indeed lost on that fateful day.

Since the incident on October 20, 2020, the date has been marked annually to commemorate the lives of those allegedly lost during the Lekki Toll Gate #EndSars protests.

In remembrance of these individuals, Mr. Macaroni, known for his impactful social commentary, shared his plans for a peaceful walk in their honor. He expressed his sentiments on social media, stating, “3 Years now!!! We will Never Forget!!! #EndSars! We will be walking peacefully to honor all those who lost their lives on 20/10/2020!!! We also walk for all those who have lost their lives as a result of police brutality in Nigeria!!! We walk in peace!!! We will never forget!”

Following his announcement, individuals expressed their thoughts and support for the planned peaceful walk, emphasizing the importance of remembering the lives lost and advocating for an end to police brutality in Nigeria.
