President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the loss of lives in a fire following another petroleum tanker accident that occurred on Saturday at Dikko Junction on the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.

The former president expressed his sadness in a statement issued through his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu.

Buhari expressed disappointment that the practice of scooping up fuel  is becoming more common in spite of warnings from the authorities and the devastating losses of life that had characteristically attended such incidents from petroleum tanker explosions.

In condoling with the government and the people of Niger state, the former president wished speedy recovery to those injured.

GWG.ng reports that besides President Buhari, that the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has expressed sadness over the deaths of people in the fuel tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Gurara Local Government of Niger.

Mr Williams Akporeha, NUPENG President, said this in a statement jointly signed by Mr Afolabi Olawale, General Secretary of the union on Sunday in Abuja.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, a tanker carrying 60,000 litres of gasoline had an accident and exploded at the Dikko junction and many lives were lost.

According to the statement, the leadership of the union had extended its heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and communities affected by the tragic petroleum truck accident.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives, the destruction of property, and the injuries sustained by many in this devastating incident.
