Flight Passenger Bites Crew Member

A flight from Sapporo, Japan, bound for Taipei, Taiwan was delayed for nearly three hours after a shocking pre-takeoff disturbance involving an unruly passenger who bit a flight attendant.

The chaos began shortly after boarding when the unidentified man reportedly refused to take his seat and ignored repeated instructions from the cabin crew. His behavior caused distress among fellow passengers, escalating tensions in the cabin.

Eyewitness accounts say the situation took a violent turn when the man suddenly attacked a flight attendant by biting him. He was eventually restrained, but not before causing considerable disruption.

Authorities were called in by the plane’s captain, who informed passengers that takeoff would not proceed until assistance arrived. “The plane will not move until help is received from the Japanese Air Police,” he reportedly told passengers.

In video footage of the incident, uniformed officers were seen boarding the plane and walking down the aisle. They carried the man off the aircraft, holding him firmly by his arms and legs.

“It was complete chaos. Nobody knew what was happening at first,” a passenger reportedly said.

The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 4:25 p.m., eventually left Sapporo at 7:30 p.m., arriving in Taiwan hours behind schedule.

It remains unclear whether the man was arrested after being removed from the plane. However, the incident drew comparisons to a similar case last year when an intoxicated American passenger bit a flight attendant’s arm, forcing a U.S.-bound ANA flight to return to Tokyo. At the time, an airline spokesperson said the passenger was “heavily drunk.”

This latest case highlights a worrying trend in disruptive behavior aboard flights. Earlier this month, a Ryanair passenger on a flight from Manchester to Rhodes had to be restrained with extra seat belts after refusing to sit down during landing. Witnesses claimed the trouble began when crew confiscated two bottles of alcohol from him.

According to Ryanair, “The crew of this flight from Manchester to Rhodes on April 3 called ahead for police assistance after a passenger became disruptive onboard. The aircraft was met by local police upon arrival at Rhodes Airport and this passenger was removed.”

“Ryanair has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behavior, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment, without unnecessary disruption. This is a matter for local police,” the spokesperson added.
