Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State have disputed Festus Keyamo’s contention against Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s position as leader of the party in the state. The Delta APC leaders gave their backing to Omo-Agege over Keyamo in the pitched battle between both men.

The leaders including serving and former members of the House of Representatives and a serving member of the House of Assembly, also vowed that they would no longer keep quiet in the face of what they claimed as Keyamo’s bid to truncate the validation of membership exercise in the state.

GWG had reported Keyamo’s open opposition to the validation exercise on the claim that Omo-Agege, the deputy president of the Senate was nominating the two coordinators for each of the Local Government Areas. He said that Omo-Agege was not the only leader in the state and that other fellow leaders must be given the leverage.

His assertions have, however, drawn the ire of some leaders of the party who in a statement obtained by GWG rebuffed Keyamo.

The eight leaders who rebuffed the minister and gave their backing to Omo-Agege over Keyamo included AVM Frank Ajobene (former Gov/ Nat caucus member; Chief Hycenth Enoha, national caucus; Hon Francis E. Waive, MHR; Hon Temi Harriman, former MHR, Hon Halims Agoda, former MHR; Hon Doris Uboh, former MHR; Hon Paulinus Akpeki, former MHR and Hon Innocent Anidi, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly.

The eight in their statement said:

“We the undersigned Stakeholders of our great  Party the All Progressives Congress APC have watched with constraint the non-stop onslaught on our party by self styled leaders who have seemingly hijacked stakeholdership of our party and continue to destroy the fortunes of our party. These so called stakeholders have never won any election in history and have no proof of delivery to the fortunes of our party even in their Units.

“We the undersigned Stakeholders have won elections and have huge followership in our State. We have resolved not to keep quiet while our party is being destroyed.”

Upon that the Delta APC leaders explained why they were backing Omo-Agege over Keyamo thus:

1. That ongoing APC membership revalidation and registration exercise should be allowed to go on without any further interference.

2. That the  membership revalidation and registration exercise go on without excluding anyone and without any stoppage.

3. That the Committe charged with the responsibility of revalidation and registration be left intact and be allowed to perform their functions without any form of distractions.

4. We Condemn in totality and disassociate ourselves from the false claims/ statement credited to the Minister of State  Labour & Productivity, Barr Festus Keyamo and emphasize that the Deputy President of the Senate  His Excellency Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo Agege is the leader of the party in our State.

We will be silent no more! Keyamo’s attempt to truncate the ongoing membership Revalidation and Registration will never stand!
