Police Mourn As Popular Tough Female Officer Dies

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ayodele Fadairo, fondly known as Aunty Ayo of Alagbon, has passed away.

The death of Aunty Ayo was confirmed on Saturday by the Force Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, via his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Aunty Ayo gained national recognition after renowned Nigerian musician Orlando Owoh sang her praises in one of his songs, following their encounter at the Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Owoh, who was detained at the FCID, described her as tough and firm, yet friendly and humane, crediting her with his respectful treatment while in detention and eventual release after being exonerated.

The highly respected officer retired from the Lagos State Police Command as ACP of Administration after serving at the FCID. Within police circles and among suspects, Aunty Ayo was known for her compassionate approach to handling detainees, earning her respect and admiration.

Although Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed her passing, he did not provide specific details regarding the cause of death. Aunty Ayo’s death marks the end of a notable career dedicated to serving the Nigerian police force and its community with integrity and humanity.

Her legacy continues to live on, especially in the song that immortalized her name and in the hearts of those she helped during her time in service.
