Two Suspects Arrested Plateau Attack

The Plateau State Police have arrested two key suspects linked to the recent attacks on communities in the state, which resulted in over 100 deaths, the destruction of homes, and widespread displacement.

The suspects were apprehended following coordinated operations aimed at investigating the violence.

In a statement on Wednesday, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that the suspects were currently assisting with the investigation. He confirmed that the police were working diligently to uncover the motives behind the attacks and to identify other individuals involved.

Adejobi assured the public that the Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to restoring peace and preventing further violence in Plateau.

“Preliminary investigations and operations in response to these attacks have led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the killings in Bokkos, who are currently assisting with the ongoing investigation,” Adejobi stated.

The police have also deployed additional personnel and resources to Plateau State, following directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetoku. The IGP visited the state on Tuesday and emphasized the importance of swift action in addressing the ongoing violence.

Egbetoku has tasked the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Kwazhi Yakubu, to take full control of operations in the state. The DIG has already started conducting aerial surveillance over Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas and is engaging with local leaders to enhance security cooperation.

“The IGP has assured the residents of Plateau State that the Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to restoring peace and order and preventing further acts of violence in the state,” Adejobi added.

Security forces have been working closely with community leaders to build trust and improve collaboration with local residents. The police spokesperson urged the public to remain calm and assist authorities with any information that could aid the investigation.
